Continuum
Collaboration between Steven Wilson and internationally renowned experimental artist Dirk Serries (vidnaObmana, fear falls burning). A multi-layered synonym for their collective ambition and vision, motivated by their immense passion for a wide-range of musical styles, ranging from spacious ambience to pounding doom metal.
Blackfield
The collaboration between Steven Wilson and Israeli singer-songwriter Aviv Geffen started in 2001 with the first album to be issued in 2004. For news and audio samples visit the Blackfield website. Blackfield on MySpace.
No-Man
Steven Wilson's collaborative project with singer Tim Bowness. Five studio albums released since 1990. Less rock orientated and more orchestral and textured than Porcupine Tree, "Returning Jesus" and "Together We're Stranger" are good places to start, and both are available to order on-line from the PT store.
Bass Communion
Bass Communion is the name SW gives to recordings he makes in an ambient vein. Most of the pieces are experiments in texture and are generated from processing recordings of real instrumental performances. Several albums and collaborations have been issued since 1998, all available to order on-line from SW's own mail order outlet Headphone Dust. Bass Communion on MySpace.
I.E.M.
This project developed out of Steven's interest in experimental music from the seventies. The music is not intended to have any kind of faux seventies feel, but does nevertheless draw inspiration from aspects of this music. Some might legitimately view the project as simply being a more abstract and indulgent version of Porcupine Tree. Most IEM albums are issued on SW's own Headphone Dust label and are available to order on-line from SW's own mail order outlet Headphone Dust.
Richard Barbieri
Richard released his first solo album in 2004. Prior to that he recorded many albums with Japan and other ex-Japan members Steve Jansen and Mick Karn in various configurations. Many of these are available from the PT store.
Ex-Wise Heads
Colin Edwin's ongoing collaboration with former Henry Cow saxophone/flute player Geoff Leigh, which also features a floating line-up of guest musicians. On the three albums they have released since 2000, Ex-Wise Heads have explored experimental and improvised music with a strong ethnic influence. Their releases are available from the PT store.
Gavin Harrison
Gavin recorded one solo album Sanity and Gravity in the mid 90's, but has also published a drum tuition DVD and two books. For more info visit his website or purchase the CD and DVD from the PT store.
